Easter Sunday in South Texas

Easter Eve, cousins were finishing up work in the "cascarones factory."

[Desperate times (no more paper confetti was found in the local stores), desperate methods (the tiny plastic confetti was used instead). I pitied the victims of our eggs,...yet, we ourselves were the victims, so it all worked out.]

We, all twelve of us, impressively arrived on time for Sunday service at "Abuela's" church. That body put on an Easter musical. My highlight of the morning was singing one of my favorites called "Agnus Dei" as a congregation in English and Spanish.

[Abuela with all her grandchildren present that day]

After service, we filled up on brisket, pintos, vegetables, and fruit before passing out an array of baskets to the children to start a hunt for hidden, colored, candy-filled eggs throughout the yard.

[one of my favorite smiles, even brightly colored red under a rainbow umbrella]

The rest of our day included nap-times, slabs of cake topped with strawberries and whipped cream, letting the children run free armed with cascarones,...

[Here the dads get it. Not many escaped the day un-confettied!]

[my hair with the vilain smiling in the background]

...more lunch left-overs were enjoyed, if bellies had room and lots of outdoor play. Finally, we visited with family and friends around the warmth of the fire pit as the stars made their showing.

It was a beautiful day, from start to finish, celebrating Jesus, Life, and the goodness with which He fills our days.

John 10: 14-15 "I [Jesus] am the good shephard; I lay down my life for the sheep."

Matthew 28:20 "I am with you always, even to the very end of the age."

Free Beauty {a Page Keeper, Music, and a Story}

Throughout the last several days, I have been introduced to some lovely finds.

They are being shared graciously and freely. I'd like to keep the sharing going.

This morning, the girls and I each made a vintage book mark from wild@heart. Our "laminating" was wide, clear, box tape; it worked. We hole-punched and added some colored string on top. Very sweet page keepers indeed.

This weekend and this morning, I have been enjoying the Icelandic composer Olafur Arnalds for the first time.

[source]

His site has links to album purchases as well as his youtube videos and free downloads for his 7 "living room" performances. They are so soothing and pleasant, his music played in the background as we did school this morning.

Finally, for reading, here again is Ann Voskamp on this Monday as we head toward Easter. She has a way with words, with bringing the ugly and beautiful together in a meaningful way in light of Jesus.

Enjoy.
